Vietnam Energy Policy Study

IIEC-Asia gathered and analyzed detailed, up-to-date information on Vietnam's energy policies for Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO).

IIEC gathered information from various Vietnamese government agencies and institutions that are key players in determining Vietnam's energy policies. The project's report contained an overview of energy supply and demand in Vietnam, with an emphasis on electricity. It also provided details on the history of Vietnam’s energy policy, its evolution, current policies and plans. Furthermore, report described two major energy-efficiency programs as well as the barriers to energy efficiency in Vietnam. Finally, the report provided recommendations that would facilitate efficiency improvements, and identified activities where international organizations such as NEDO might participate in Vietnam.
