Stakeholder Workshop on GEF-8 Project Unveils Key Insights for Thailand's Climate Action Agenda in Building Sector

Following a successful Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the GEF-8 Thailand NZNP (Net Zero Nature Positive) IP (Integrated Programme) project titled "Deep Decarbonization of Thai Industries based on Emission Trading System and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (Building Component)," significant insights have emerged to shape Thailand's climate action roadmap towards NZNP strategy implementation, particularly focusing on the building sector.

The workshop, held on April 1st, 2024, at the Skyview Hotel Bangkok, Thailand, was hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC).

Participants gained valuable insights into the draft project design and activities, as well as the proposed management structure aimed at deep decarbonization within Thai industries. The event fostered inclusive engagement, bringing together policymakers, development partners, industry leaders, financing institutions, educational bodies, and the private sector. This diverse participation ensured comprehensive discussions and enriched perspectives on the project design for the project's building component. Feedback and inputs from the consultation workshop will be gathered to finalize the proposal
