IIEC Engages Thai Stakeholders on Air Conditioner Market Trends and Energy Efficiency Transition
22 April 2026, the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC) joined consultations with representatives of the Thai Air-Conditioning Traders Association (TATA) and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) at the Division of Innovation and Industrial Technology Development to discuss current market trends and consumer behavior in Thailand’s air conditioning sector.
This consultations are part of the project “Assessment of Market Response Toward the Efficiency Gaps between Energy Labeling and MEPS Requirement in Thailand,” supported by the Clean Cooling Collaborative (CCC) and implemented in collaboration with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), EGAT, and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI). The discussions focused on key issues affecting the sector, including product efficiency, pricing, consumer preferences, after-sales service, and broader market readiness for higher-efficiency products.
Findings from the consultations will feed into a broader market assessment of Thailand’s preparedness for future improvements in higher energy performance requirements. By capturing both supply- and demand-side perspectives, the study aims to identify market opportunities and transition challenges, and to support the development of practical, evidence-based policy recommendations to strengthen energy efficiency in Thailand’s cooling sector.
